In this episode, Prof Chapman talks about miscarriage which is a very common occurrence. Unfortunately, most people don’t like to talk about it due to the emotional trauma that it brings. The risk of miscarriage increases as a woman grows older. For women under 35, the rate is 1 in every 6 pregnancies - that’s about 15%. At 40 the rate goes up to 25% and at 45 it increases to 50%. Did you know that most miscarriages (about 99%) occur within the first 12 weeks after conception? Yup! So if you get past that you’re pretty safe.
